UneeK Trailer Specifications
The Uneek Touring-Trailer was initially designed with specific goals in mind: -
- To be as light as possible without compromising strength
- Large enough to be able to carry a load (weight and volume) similar to a medium size station wagon
- Small enough to be able to be towed by a 1.3 litre engine capacity car
- Short enough to "free-stand" on its back end for space saving storage
As the "evolutionary” process continued, other benefits were added like: -
- Adding (and enlarging) the lid to provide lockable weatherproof cargo space, with the added advantage of hiding the cargo from view
- Making the lid removable with other functions
- Re-design the lid to be used as a functioning "kitchen" shelving unit when removed from the body
And we are still looking for more virtues we can incorporate into this truly UneeK design trailer!
The Design is simple, low maintenance, strong and cost effective: -
Body: - |
The body is made of a one-piece steel reinforced fibreglass composite construction, which is attached to the chassis by mechanical fasteners and chemical bonding for maximum structural strength. Testing has proven that even in the event of a collision the bonding between chassis and the body is exceptionally sound. |
Chassis: - |
The design of the trailer uses the fibreglass construction as a homogeneous part of the "chassis", together with the Rectangular Hollow Section (RHS) steel frame, the springs and coupling are mounted to this fabricated metal frame. |
Suspension: - |
The suspension is a simple and time-tested live axle mounted on semi-elliptic eye to eye springs with automotive style stepped shackle pins for quite trouble free service. |
Wheels: - |
The wheels and spare are 10" aluminium alloy. |
Lid: - |
The lid is a single piece steel reinforced fibreglass composite construction with stainless steel hinge pins, and twin gas strut supports for safe and easy lid opening.
The lid has three stainless steel handles, one at the front for opening and two at the rear for ease of pushing the trailer around like a large shopping trolley.
The rear handles also act as support stands together with a pair of stainless steel "overrider" legs on the back of the body to support the trailer off the ground when stood upright on its back end.
The gas struts are able to be unclipped from the lid, and the hinge pins removed to remove the lid from the body, making the trailer into a small open "box" trailer.
|
Finish: - |
The trailer body and lid are painted with a two-pack automotive paint finish. |
